Credit Unions are generally much more communal than banks. I've tried both Eastman & Consumer CU's and I've found Eastman to be much more lenient and prompt. ▶️PROS◀️ ▪️You can open both a Checking & Savings account with $6 total ▪️Instant transactions & quick service ▪️Account monitored for suspicious activity to prevent fraudulent spending ▪️Lower overdraft fees than competitors ▪️Understanding about purchasing mistakes (e.g. free trial expires; billing begins) ▪️Most services are available online, including bill pay & transferring money across accounts ▪️Staff is friendly & open to talk at both the Kingsport & Greeneville branches. ▪️Financial counseling & debt management services are available ▪️Credit & debit cards, cards, checks, loans, and many other products & services provided ▪️Very honest about what they do. When I enrolled, I had an in-depth discussion about credit unions and how they differ from a bank ❌CONS❌ ▪️Fee for exceeding monthly limit of transfers across accounts (though it's small) ▪️Online account can be a pain to access if you no longer have access to the phone/email used for security check ▪️Can not deposit money through an ATM until you've been a member for a certain amount of time
