But do they tell management to take sick birds, lizards, and hamsters to someone who knows what they are doing? No. They google info and make an educated guess. Or just put it down if it seems like too much work. It's cheaper and easier after all. They can't even manage to do a fecal test for worms! That bird is skinny and might have contagious worms? Put it down. That bird is stressed and overheated? He should "eat nachos with Jesus." Actual quote. The hamster needs antibiotics? Well he might not make it and medicine costs a few dollars so let's not even give him a chance. Then they think it is normal for a snake's penis to pop out constantly. And be covered in mites. And it's OK that the hamster's behind is covered in diarrhea and is red. The guinea pig still has a URI? Meh. Sell it. Don't be fooled by friendly front desk staff, they don't make this a real vet.
