After doing the Camino de Santiago (700 mile hike) last year, I noticed the hikers that were most fit were yoga practitioners. When I returned, I vowed to give yoga a try and I began coming to Mountain yoga. Seven months later I can definitely feel a difference in balance, flexibility and strength. Just this month my fitness level was put to test on a 150 mile canoe trip in the Canada boundary waters. Canoeing 6-10 hours a day for 10 days was a formidable event for anyone, especially a 63 year old guy. When my shoulders, arms, hands and torso began crying out, I used the yoga breathing techniques that we have been taught. I'm happy to say that the trip was awesome and I owe much of it to classes at Mountain Yoga and helping me get in shape for this trip.
