I went to the clinic because I thought I had the flu. The test came back negative, but the nurse practitioner still thought it was the flu. My fever was 101.5. I was coughing and had been coughing so much my stomach and sides hurt. I told the FNP that I could only take a certain cough medicine because it didn’t make me sick like all the others. I usually get a bottle and it lasts for a year, mainly through allergy season. The bottle that I was given to me by her in the first part of September of 2017. I got the flu (first time in 20+ years) and asked for the same cough medicine. I took the majority of the cough medicine during this flu episode. Yes, it said only take it twice a day, but it wasn’t helping so I took it three x a day. If that was a problem just tell me. I’m not addicted to cough meds nor do I sell them. I was made to feel like an addict. I would have taken a blood test or urine test to confirm it. Also, if I were selling it, I wouldn’t be struggling financially. I needed my cough medicine to sleep and keep the cough at bay. She prescribed the cough medicine that made me sick! How am I with the flu, feeling horrible already, going to take some medicine that makes me nauseous? I’m sorry people abuse medication, however, some people tell the truth and you are hurting the ones who do and still prescribing to the ones who are addicts. This has gotten out of hand! I will never be back and will never be treated that way again. I called back and told them I had taken the cough medicine she gave me and it still made me sick. I was told, she’s not going to give you anything else. My insurance paid for that visit, but it will be appealed. Not everyone is an addict!!
